Wellbeing

SAST is committed to creating a positive, safe and healthy work environment. We recognise the importance of promoting positive mental, physical and emotional wellbeing and will provide suitable support for all members of staff. Our ethos is to work effectively together and support each other, as a purposeful and caring school community.

Wellbeing interconnects with aspects of both our working and personal lives and every staff member will experience health and wellbeing differently. There are many wellbeing initiatives underway in our schools focusing on physical and mental health or to ways to say thank you and show gratitude. In several of our schools, we have staff who are trained as mental health first aiders and are a source of support for colleagues.

Headteachers and senior leaders in each of our schools, and also within our central trust team, can be approached at any time with any concerns, or as a source for advice or guidance to support staff health and wellbeing. We also have a strong chaplaincy network across SAST that provides both practical and spiritual support if required. The HR team are also available as a listening ear or will be able to provide practical support for staff if required.

Information relating to health and medical issues is classified as personal and sensitive information and will be treated with sensitivity and discretion, in accordance with SAST’s policies.
