Shillingstone Primary hailed as ambitious, inclusive and caring by Ofsted
Shillingstone CE Primary School has been praised as ‘Good’ in all areas following their recent Ofsted inspection.
Inspectors said “Pupils enjoy learning a broad range of subjects. The school has high expectations of them. Pupils are given many opportunities to discuss and debate ideas. They are keen to learn and curious to know more. They have highly positive attitudes towards school”.
The report goes on to say “Pupils at Shillingstone are proud to belong to an inclusive and caring community. They are kind and patient with one another. Pupils understand that everyone is different. They celebrate this. Pupils have warm relationships with staff and they feel safe.”
The school’s ambitious curriculum taught by specialists was highlighted as a strength, as was their sharp focus on early reading, writing and maths.
Headteacher Jane Whitehouse-Sharp said “We are delighted with this Ofsted report as it highlights all the fantastic work that our staff do every day. It is very rewarding to know that our children are proud to belong to an inclusive and caring school, and that parents are overwhelmingly positive about our school”.
Shillingstone Primary merged with Okeford Fitzpaine CE Primary last year. Pupils who previously attended Okeford Fitzpaine have been educated at Shillingstone since September 2022, with classes being adapted to welcome the new pupils into the school. Ofsted inspectors highlighted how well the school has integrated pupils and made curriculum changes.
