Buckland Newton Primary School praised by Ofsted for high expectations of pupils

Buckland Newton CE Primary School has been praised by Ofsted after retaining it’s ‘Good’ inspection grade. It is a ‘caring and happy school’ where children’s ‘enjoyment of learning shines through,’ said the inspectors.

The report goes on to state that pupils are encouraged ‘to make positive changes in school and the wider community’ and that ‘pupil’s personal development is at the heart of the school’s work’. Pupils enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities including exciting trips, drama club, choir, sports and enjoy running their ‘daily mile’.

Headteacher Nicki Ralph said “I am delighted that the report acknowledges what it is really like to be a pupil at Buckland Newton CE Primary School and recognises the care, happy atmosphere, high expectations, achievements and aspirations we are able to provide for all our pupils. My team work tirelessly to give the children the learning and experiences that they all deserve and need. I am immensely proud of them all.”

Buckland Newton Primary is a member of SAST, a multi-academy trust with 17 schools across Dorset and South Somerset. SAST CEO, Colin Sinclair, added “A big congratulations to our team at Buckland Newton. The family-feel of the school, and the happiness of the children, shines through when you visit, and we are pleased that Ofsted have recognised that children here are receiving a good quality of education which will provide the building blocks for their futures”.
