News 8th January 2021
To All SAST Staff
It has been quite a last 7 days and I suspect the Christmas and New Year is feeling a long way back – I hope that went as well as possible considering the restrictions.
It has been amazing what has been achieved this week. Great thanks to everyone for getting the remote learning and in school provision for key/critical workers and vulnerable pupils up and running so successfully so quickly.
We have ,and will continue to, make our views clear about how schools can and should operate in this period. At least we now have clarity about school opening for the rest of this half-term (and it could be longer); the decision about the summer exams and tests is the right one. We are fully supporting the prioritisation of teachers and support staff for vaccinations. Thanks for the secondary schools who have been able to make the rapid flow tests available for our primary staff as well.
We hope that that we can at least settle into a new rhythm rather than being dogged by uncertainty. Of course there will continue to be challenges and further twists and turns.
Very best wishes for the year ahead. As I have said previously that mutual support and care for each other is one of our strengths.
