New play area unveiled for children at Okeford Fitzpaine CE Primary
Children at Okeford Fitzpaine CE Primary are delighted with the new play area that has just been built at the school. The project was funded by a National Lottery grant, along with generous contributions from the Parish Council and parents. Before the work was completed, the outside area was an uninviting space that the children could only access when it was dry. Now that there is an all-weather surface, the children will be able to access and enjoy it all year round. Pupils now have a new playhouse, as well as a mud kitchen and an exciting water wall!
Headteacher Lizzie Peters said, “This space will provide the children with an additional learning space where they can explore all aspects of the curriculum whilst taking advantage of our picturesque country setting. The children are incredibly excited about using it and have promised to take very good care of their new space. This space is not just for the school but the whole community, including our Toddler Group, to use and enjoy”.
The school would like to thank Pentagon Play who put together the successful bid for the lottery funding and completed the work on installing the new area. They would also like to thank everyone who contributed to the project in order to make the school learning environment even better. There will be a grand opening on Friday 8th November at 10am to which everyone in the local community is warmly welcome to attend.
