World Book Day
Our schools have been enthusiastically celebrating World Book Day again this year, with students (and staff!) dressing up as their favourite book characters, as well as lots of activities to encourage students to find and read books they enjoy. Read more from our schools below:

Staff and students have once again made a huge effort, dressing up in a wonderful array of costumes for World Book Day! Science dressed up as the cast of Lord of the Rings, English dressed up as characters from Harry Potter, and PE went back to their childhood, dressing as Mr Men and Little Miss characters.
As well as donning costumes, staff are sharing their favourite books with students and having their photographs taken to be used in posters around the school to show that everyone reads and has different tastes in fiction.
At the start of each lesson during the day, students had a different 500-word story played to them, all of which come from the winning entries of last years’ Radio 2 competition.

As part of our celebrations of all things literature, we have dressed up as our favourite book characters and had a parade around the school. During the evening, we enjoyed our annual ‘Stories by Fairylights’ – a lovely time in which we share books at ‘bedtime’ dressed in our PJs and slippers. Thank you to everyone who is involved in making this such a special event.

As well as dressing up, a crime scene was staged for the children to solve using clues!
